Great Expidition.

We got back to the main camp site near Lawncestion (its not spelt right but close as I can get) about 16:30.

Unpack out gear and re-registed back at the main camp site.

Weather up at Cradle Mountain was great for the first 3 days (Thursday - Saturday), but on Saturday night we got the 1st few shower coming through. And it just got colder and wetting until this morning. It was acutely great fun, as we had a warm and cozy Scout Hut to stay in! It would not have been so much fun in tents !!

Cold wet and windy night, looking out from the deck on the scout hut.

So this report is more from my expedition (Baloo).

Rob will bring back photos and a trip report and Blog this when we get back to site.
Today we weŕe up early (05:15am) and heading out off site at 08:15am. This went rather smooth and we arrived in the Cradle Mount Park Visitor center and met up with my expedition leader.

We split in to two group, and the 1st group (me and 2ic expd leader) Chris. Took our group to the 1st activity. Which was Cannoning !! I did not expect this, and we got all kitted out with gear, and entered the gouge system we traveled through.
Photos of this to will be uploaded when I get the USB stick with them on it.

After this we walk about 2.5kms to the park car, and picked up our big packs, and then visited the old (1912 1st built) hostel/home in the (now) park. It is called Waldheim, and was interesting with a small museum and story boards about.

Unit 1701. Great bunch of Scouts.

Busing up to the expidition site.

Words to think about.
the stage is booming along (23:30) now. Most of the youth are down grooving to the noise.
Some are back in the lines as I write this. While others are cruz'in about...

Curfu is 01:00, with the band due to close up at 12:30. So I will have to get out of my tent where I am now and see if I can get the kids in my unit home and in bed...

Personal I'm ready to sleep now!! But all the 'fresh' kids are just one day into there trip. So staying up will likly be what they want.

Sleep in to 07:00 so that will be good.

Night, BBB.

Day one, to Melbourne.

Flight was fine, we had a new 737-800 with the new behind seats entertainment system. So everyone can select there own movie, music or games etc. We were spread out through out the plane, but we all got togeather at the over end.

I left Dingo at the Bagage carasel while I went and collected the van. All went to plan and I pull up anf started to load kids and a few bags with no waiting. Stan arrived shortly afterwards and we continued to laod bags into his tralier.

Off we went in convoy to Ringwood, no problems. Stan put on a great feed for us, and we then went for a walk to the oval (close by) kids kicked footys and played for cricket. Later we went for a drive into the town center fro a walk.

Plan to be up by 06:00am and on our way back to the airport about 07:00, for breakfast and booking in.

Cheers,
Stephen.

Flash walk and bike bridge over pass in Ringwood.

We drove the youth into Ringwood for a walk and look about. Almost all the shops were close as it was New Years day holiday of course.  But as Scouts are good at 'finding' thing (and places) they found Mac'ers!! SO in we had to go.
